Jack Appleman, author of the top-selling 10 Steps to Successful Business Writing (2008, ASTD Press), has taught thousands of individuals to write more productively through the proven method addressed in the book. His writing workshops and coaching programs before major corporations have consistently earned outstanding evaluations. An award-winning writer, Jack is president of SG Communications and brings more than 20 years' experience as a trainer and PR specialist. He also teaches communication courses at William Paterson and Fairleigh Dickinson. Jack earned his M.S. in Communication from Ohio University and holds the Certified Business Communicator designation.

Scott Cohen is our current Past-President, having served the Chapter since 2005 as a Volunteer on the Professional Development committee, V.P. of Communications, and Chapter President.  He is currently the Director of Training for Children's Aid and Family Services Inc. one of northern New Jersey's largest regional providers of human services and child welfare programs for more than 100 years. Scott manages the L&D  initiatives and the structure of the agency's training and reporting systems to enhance employee skills and maintain compliance with national accreditation, State, and agency requirements. His background in corporate training and development is preceded by his experiences in higher education administration, and as a former K-12 ESL and foreign language teacher. He holds a Master of Arts in Education from New York University and a Bachelor of Science in International Business with a Minor in French from SUNY Plattsburgh.

 

Debra Hamilton

Debra Hamilton, president of Creative Communications & Training, Inc., has 25 years of experience in education and adult learning. As a learning and performance consultant, she develops strategic learning and leadership initiatives, including needs assessment, program design, implementation, and evaluation. Her blended learning solutions often include a mix of instructor-led and self-paced learning, web 2.0 technologies, and follow-up coaching sessions to fully engage participants and achieve key performance targets. She is proficient at linking learning programs to business results and skilled at assessing training transfer using the Kirkpatrick four levels of evaluation. Debra's expertise includes communication strategy, interpersonal communication, supervisory management, sales leadership, cross-functional team communication, as well as writing, speaking, and executive presentation skills. She works with firms in the pharmaceutical, manufacturing, retailing, energy, technology, and engineering industries.

 

Diane Brescher

Diane Brescher founder of DB Consulting Partners, LLC has over 21 years of experience in the performance improvement and organizational development field. She has held various roles for AIG, American Express, Chubb Insurance, and GE Money supporting various functional areas including Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Client Relationships, New Product Development, and Operations. Her full range of expertise lies in building assessment tools and analyzing results, facilitation of workshops and meeting, learning design and development, and evaluation skills. Her extensive experience in the leadership development area includes the design of 360 leadership tools, leadership coaching, and leadership training. Diane has built a training department and infrastructure supporting over 2,000 worldwide and has developed a Global Sales Program. She is a pioneer CPLP and will be graduating May 2010 with her Ed D in Adult Learning and Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University.  Her dissertation is on entrepreneurship and social networks. She has been a board member since 2007.

 

Christine Troianello

Christine Troianello is a learning and organizational effectiveness executive and consultant.  She brings more than 15 years experience leading global learning organizations supporting sales, technical, services and customer audiences in the US, Europe, Latin America, India and Asia.  Her expertise is in global strategy, design, development, delivery, outsourcing and management of training and performance solutions especially in the high tech sector.  She currently consults on strategic planning, leadership development, team excellence, driving high performance cultures, business alignment and developing global workforce strategies.  She holds a Master’s Degree in Organizational Behavior from Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) in Madison New Jersey where she is an adjunct faculty member and mentor in the Organizational Behavior program.

Pam Sammarco, CPLP, President & CEO, Green Training Associates LLC, a Sustainability Training and Consulting Practice, aligns people, optimizes performance and delivers sustainable business results.  Green Training Associates LLC partners with leaders on their critical role in achieving sustainability performance by creating green workplaces and developing people to be engaged, competent, knowledgeable and skilled, supporting their journey.   We drive sustainable business performance via behavior, culture and organization change.  We will help organizations create and execute sustainability HR, OD and learning strategies aligned with business objectives. We implement training metrics to ensure satisfaction, sourcing and impact.  Pam holds her Certified Professional in Learning & Performance (CPLP) credentials demonstrating that she met ASTD standards and competencies.  She has proven success, producing significant business results from strategic learning interventions.  Pam’s background includes significant experience in four major corporations in three industries:  Financial Services, Telecommunications and Pharmacy Benefit Management, working for progressive and innovative companies: Citicorp, American Express, Alcatel-Lucent and Medco Health Solutions.  Pam is a leader in ASTD (American Society for Training & Development) and the Northern NJ local Chapter. She holds two Board of Director roles:  Sustainable HRD Forum Leader and VP, Leadership Development.  Pam earned her M.S. degree in Applied Psychology - HR Management, Stevens Institute of Technology; a B.A. in General Psychology, Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude, math/statistics minor, Douglass College, Rutgers University.

Ken’s background is in financial services, where over a twenty-two year career he held leadership positions in strategic business development and as an executive coach and consultant at Prebon Yamane (USA) Inc. Ken has partnered with executives and teams in a broad range of organizations, including: Citigroup, Bayer, David Yurman, Deloitte, Johnson & Johnson, MetLife, Nielson, Nestle, Pfizer, and UBS. Meg Paradise leads the Women’s Initiative at J.H. Cohn. This Women’s Initiative was awarded “Best Women’s Initiative in 2008” from the Garden State Woman Foundation.

In Beijing, China, Meg teaches ‘Negotiations and Leadership,’ and ‘Organizational Behavior’ in Rutgers Executive MBA Program. In Beijing and Shanghai, Meg was keynote speaker for “Leading During Times of Change.” She teaches ‘Transformational Leadership and Team Building’ and ‘Organizational Theory’ in New York University’s Master of Science in Human Resource Management and Development. She is a Hudson Institute certified coach.
Meg has served in leadership positions at Right Management, AT&T, AT&T Solutions. She consults with companies including, PepsiCo, the Ford Motor Company, Chubb Corporation, SunTrust Banks, Kawasaki Motors, Inc.
Meg led a coalition of Deans and Directors across Rutgers University to establish the Women’s Business Leadership Initiative in 2007, an innovative program for honors students. She has a Master’s Degree in Psychology with specialization in Organizational Behavior and Leadership. She has been inducted into Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology.

Hania Qubein
has a depth of global experience as an independent consultant, specializing in soft skills training and Organizational Development (OD). She has designed and delivered soft skills training to include training of trainers, client interaction skills, facilitation, team building and leadership development. She guides individuals in transformational change, and is currently completing her Masters in Organizational Behavior at Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) Madison, NJ (USA).

Kathy Sherwood is the senior partner of Sherwood Learning Solutions, a company in Fairfield NJ that was founded in 1992.  The firm has a core team of twenty professionals who develop the capabilities of corporate leaders and professionals each year in industries such as the pharmaceutical, consumer products, professional services, energy, manufacturing, and financial services.  With a strong focus on a personalized approach, Sherwood has over 30 core workshops and blended learning solutions that can be customized for its clients.  Its new practice area, Sherwood Talent Solutions, supports clients with retained and interim searches as well as executive coaching.  Prior to founding the company, Kathy held several positions corporate human resources and learning, and was graduated from Rider University.

 

Pamela Lambert

Pamela’s professional background is in helping drive the development, planning and implementation of sales training programs in the financial services industry. She has extensive experience in program management, project management, process management, technology training initiatives, administration, and marketing and communication. She also has experience with driving technology solutions. One of her key strengths is streamlining processes using technology that is available and Pamela is excited to share her skills with this organization. Finally, during her space time, Pamela has launched a homemade cupcake business, A’La Cupcakes.

Vince Giambalvo, Ph.D. started his professional career as Assistant Professor of Behavioral Science at the State University of NY. After 4 years, he left the academic world to join ADP as a training specialist. In his quarter century in the T&D/OD world, Vince has worked for ADT, Duro-Test Lighting, A&P as well as being an independent consultant for 5 years. He joined GAF Materials Corp in a start up position. At GAF MC, he initiated training for sales people, supervisors, managers and other company leaders, as well as starting the GAF On-Line University. For the past two years Vince has served as Director, Learning & Development for Affinity Health Plan.  At Affinity he has built the L&D function which now includes Leadership Development, Supervisor and Manager Training, Process Improvement Consulting and Sales Management Development as well as Affinity Online University.  Vince specializes in all “soft” skills training.

D. Vincent Varallo, senior-level consultant, has almost twenty-five twenty years experience as a facilitator, a coach, and a trainer with global companies. His interventions include Developing a Global Mindset, Presenting with Impact, and Coaching for International Professionals.  Mr. Varallo founded Varallo International in 1995, a firm that helps both U.S. Americans and international professionals improve their cross-cultural competence, public speaking, and business writing skills.  He has managed high profile accounts such as Citigroup, Hoffmann-La Roche, BMW, LG Electronics, and Siemens Corporate Research.  Mr. Varallo appeared in Who’s Who in Training & Development as early as 1987.  He also was profiled in Who’s Who in the U.S. in 2003.  He was the 2005 president for the NNJ-American Society of Training & Development.  In 2010, he continues to serve on the BOD as the Co-Chair for the Executive Advisory Council.  He holds a BA in American Studies and an MA in English.
