Volunteer Opportunities

Like all organizations, the more you put into NNJ-ASTD, the more you will get out of it. Please find a way to get involved and get to know us. In addition to the listings below, we always welcome people with an interest to work on any aspect of the chapter's activities. Treasurer

Role: Lead Chapter Finance function – including developing and monitoring budget strategy for all functions; reviewing and reporting monthly financial trends; reconciling credits and debits for chapter events.Oversee Finance Chair and Financial Analyst overseeing monthly deposits and bookkeeping. Needs to be comfortable working with numbers and detail.

Time Expected: 8-10 hours per month.

Benefits: Expert application of techniques of financial analysis and reporting.

Financial Analyst

Role: Work with Treasurer and Finance chair with monthly deposits and bookkeeping. Needs to be comfortable working with numbers and detail.

Time Expected: 3-4 hours per month

Benefits: Learn techniques of financial analysis and reporting. Opportunity to move to Treasurer or Finance chair with this chapter financial background.

Executive Breakfast Chairs (3 needed)

Roles:

  • Senior HRD leader who has contacts for potential speakers; good planning and organizing skills and executive presence - is capable of effectively representing NNJ Chapter to senior HRD leaders and presenters. This leader has effective program/project management and execution skills, and the willingness to ensure a successful event for the attendees and the chapter.
  • Junior HRD Leader who has excellent project and program management skills.

Time Expected: 2 - 4 hours per month, lead 2 Breakfast Events per year + logistics.

Develop and/or apply your leadership skills, network with the senior learning leader community and build your professional knowledge.

Consultant Special Interest Group Co-chair

Role: Co-Lead a SIG targeted at the Consulting discipline. Deploy regular SIG meetings – identifying leading edge industry topics and speakers.

Time Expected: 2 - 4 hours every other month, leading 4 to 5 meetings per year.

Benefits: Develop and/or apply your leadership skills, network with consultant professionals and build your professional knowledge.

Awards Chair

Role: Work with VP Leadership Development to prepare Monthly Award Certificates and plan and execute end of year Volunteer Awards Ceremony.

Time Expected: 1 hour per month; except October - December - 2 - 3 hours per month.

Benefits: Organize celebration of Chapter volunteers.

New Member Orientation Chair

Role: Conducts a New Member Orientation before the Dinner Meeting. Greet professionals interested in membership and answers questions. This Volunteer should have at least 6 months as a Chapter member with some experience attending Chapter events.

Time Expected: New Member Orientation is every other Dinner Meeting – so 4 to 5 meetings a year. It is hosted at 5:45 pm, prior to the Meeting.

Benefits: Networking and orienting potential and new members to join our Community of Learning and Performance Professionals and to show the value of Membership.
