Volunteering Has Been Great!
Yesterday we held the last Professional Development event of the year. It was a fantastic session on training design led by Rich Silkes of Sherwood Learning Solutions. What an amazing guy and organization! I got to know them by volunteering to help out our chapter. Yesterday I introduced my replacement on the Board of Directors, Meg Paradise, who I also know because I volunteered. She's another great person and excellent resource. I have been a member of the chapter for well over a decade. Before volunteering, I had only met a half dozen people, and then only superficially. Now there are people in the chapter that I can count on if I need support. We know each other's foibles and work together anyhow.
In the coming year, I'll be playing more of a supportive role in the chapter as I transition Professional Development into Meg's capable hands and this website into Ed Parkin's expert hands. Thank you all for the experience and the camaraderie. It has been a great learning experience and a privilege to serve with you!
